Leading Australian Resilient Communities (LARC) is a brand-new leadership program designed to amplify the already resilient leadership within Central and East Gippsland.

Delivered in partnership with the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation and Committee for Gippsland, this dynamic program responds to the region’s unique opportunities and is guided by best practice learning techniques.

About the Leading Australian Resilient Communities program

The LARC program will develop skills, knowledge and provide space for up to 26 diverse participants to consider possible futures for their communities and the leadership required of them. Over six-eight months, participants will gather regularly to expand their understanding of regional development and develop skills in strategic foresight, adaptive leadership, and community resilience.

Participants will work together to design and initiate place-based experiments to make progress on community challenges.

There will be plenty of opportunity to engage with local and national experts giving participants access to:

A three-day Leadership Intensive

  • Dates: 17th, 18th & 19th October
  • Location: Wellington Shire – Sale (Venue TBC)

Ongoing mentoring

Support to design and deliver a community project

Participants will be drawn from the local community and can be volunteers or employees of local government, not-for-profit organisations and businesses as well as students and elected members. Places are limited. Diversity will be key to ensure we can learn from each other.

Are there any fees?

This program is funded by the Australian Government as part of the Building Resilient Regional Leaders Initiative. There is no fee to participate. Successful applicants must be available to attend all program days and be prepared to cover travel costs to and from each immersive, commit to activities between sessions including the delivery of a group project for the benefit of the region.
